Sweden

Sweden is the State in the north of Europe, located on Scandinavian peninsula. In the north and the west borders on Norway and Finland. In the east it is washed by gulf of Bothnia and Baltic sea, in a southwest — passages Skageraks and Kattegat. Sweden posesses also islands Gotlands and Alands. Sweden can be divided into six topographical regions. In northwest there are the mountains forming a part of border with Norway. In the same place there is the highest point of Sweden — mountain Kebnekajse (2111).

Since I century in territory of the country lived tribes of svevs and gets. In VII — XI centuries from these grounds vikings made devastating attacks on the countries of Europe. In first half of IX century franks missionaries have brought christianity in the country, since 800 Swedish vikings have based some colonies on coast of Baltic sea and have laid trading ways on the east and the south. Power of Sweden has considerably grown during Eric’s IX (1150 1160) board which has won Finland.
Defeat of Swedes in the Neva fight in 1240 has put the end to their promotion on the east. In 1250–1363 Folkung Dynasty has created the centralized state. In XII century Sweden attaches to itself Finland. Considerably Sweden became weaker during Charles’s XII who have lost Northern war to tsar Peter I board. In 1914 after the beginning of the First World War Sweden has proclaimed neutrality and has signed the agreement with Norway and Denmark about joint protection of neutrality and the general economic interests.
Sweden is a member of the United Nations and all specialized agencies of this organization, the OATS, EU.
A state system:
the Head of the state — the Monarch.
The legislature — unicameral parliament.
The executive — the Cabinet of Ministers led by the Prime Minister.
