The economy

Sweden is the industrial country with an intensive agriculture. The national economic model has received the name of «the Swedish socialism». It is market economy of the mixed type with domination of the private property, combining the best features of capitalist and socialist ways of development.

The industry of Sweden is focused on export, and its production makes a basis of all foreign trade of the country. Sweden is the largest supplier of a wood and pulp-and-paper production. Deliveries of wood are conducted through a reilway and highways. The Swedish manufacturers let out various building materials, furniture production, houses of fast assembly.

The pulp and paper industry is concentrated lengthways of the rivers running into gulf of Bothnia. The enterprises of an iron and steel industry are concentrated in places of a coal mining. Till now the majority of factories is located in the central areas of Sweden. The largest steelmaking concern " Swedish steel company " belongs to the state.

The mechanical engineering makes about 50% of cost all made industry of production. Factories of the automobile and space industry are concentrated in Southern and Central Sweden. The motor industry is presented by companies " Volvo «, having factories in Geteborg, and «Saab-Scania», with the enterprises in Trollhatten.

Pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries are the most dynamical and perspective in the Swedish economy. The Swedish campaigns specialize on manufacture of the medicines applied in oncology, gastroenterology, cardiology.

Electric and electronic industries are concentrated in Stockholm and Westross. Stockholm is the center of manufacture of the telecommunication equipment. The world popularity was received with such Swedish campaigns as «Ericsson» and «Electrolux», working on the market of telecommunication and home appliances.

In an agriculture less than 6% of all grounds of the country are processed. The majority of the processable grounds is concentrated in southern areas where are grown up wheat, barley, sunflower, a potato while in northern landings a potato prevail. But plant growing is not priority branch of an agriculture. The majority of farms specialize on dairy animal industries. Large horned livestock are planted in all territory of Sweden, while pigs and poultry only in the south.

Such spheres of a national economy, as bank sector and tourism are traditionally developed.

Sweden exports machine tools and the equipment, machines, pulp-and-paper production, wood, iron, steel, chemicals. Imports — the equipment and machine tools, oil and mineral oil, machines, iron and steel, the foodstuffs, clothes. The basic trading partners are the EU countries, Norway, the USA.
